Students Win Top Honors at UNI Grad Symposium

Clair WilliamsSeveral Communication Studies graduate students were among the 55 selected presenters at the  5th Annual UNI Graduate Student Research Symposium on March 27

Two students won first-place presentation awards at their sessions.

  • First Place, Goerkem Yesilnur, Communication Studies, "The Perception of Public Relations in Academia Among Communication Scholars" (advisor Dr. April Chatham-Carpenter)
  • First Place, Clair Williams (in photo), Communication Studies, "To Age, or Not to Age-That is the Question: Analyzing and Debunking the Cultural Fetish and Youth Obsessed Societal Construction Known as Anti-Aging" (advisor Dr. April Chatham-Carpenter)

Kiranjeet Dhillon and April Larson also presented their paper, "A Rhetorical Analysis of 'What Makes a Family': Zach Wahl's Speech to Iowa" (advisor Catherine Helen Palcewski).
