Scholarships in Digital Media

1. Iowa Broadcasters Association Scholarships (Application: February each year)

The Iowa Broadcasters Association provides scholarship support to two declared Digital Media majors each year.  The award will be $4000 per recipient. The scholarship is renewable. 

Criteria for the Iowa Broadcasters Association Scholarship are as follows:

Scholarships are awarded to declared Digital Media majors for the semesters in which the scholarship is received.  Grant recipients must be enrolled for at least 12 hours of course credit for the semesters in which the scholarship is received.

2. Iowa Broadcasters Association Digital Media Leadership Scholarship (Application:  March each year)

Criteria: Digital Media Major or Prospective. Application includes preparing an academic plan for Digital Media Leadership program progress, and submitting a statement of career interest in leadership positions in the digital media industries, including digital media promotion, distribution and management.  Must be enrolled at least 12 credit hours in the Digital Media Leadership emphasis for the semesters in which the scholarship is received. Amount awarded: at least $2500 per academic year.

3. Eugene Grossman Scholarship (Application: January each year)

Criteria for the Eugene and Mary Grossman Scholarship are as follows:

Must be declared Junior or Senior Digital Media Major who have completed more than 20 hours of major course work and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Must be enrolled for at least 12 hours of course credit for the semester in which the scholarship is received. Amount awarded varies.

4. Joyce Chen Scholarship (January of each year)

Must be declared Junior or Senior Digital Media Major who have completed more than 20 hours of major course work and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Must be enrolled for at least 12 hours of course credit for the semester in which the scholarship is received. Amount awarded varies.

5. BEA scholarship (Application: October of each year)

BEA National Scholarships in Broadcasting 

The Department of Communication and Media is an institutional member, so students in the department are encouraged to apply for BEA scholarships.

6. Funding for Entrance Fees: Audio/Visual/Multimedia Projects for Contest/Competition (Application: As Needed)

Criteria: Digital Media Major or Prospective; Project done for Digital Media classes or Extracurricular; Faculty recommendation

7. National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences - Upper Midwest Chapter (the Emmy Awards people). 

Criteria: Scholarships are open to high school and college/university students living or attending school in the five-state area served by the Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa & western Wisconsin)
